BBFC (British Board of Film Classification)
In order to protect children from unsuitable and even harmful content in films and to give consumers information they might need about a particular film before deciding whether or not to view it, the BBFC examines and age rates films before they are released.
A film that has been rated as a 15 means no-one under the age of 15 is allowed to see the film or buy/rent the film.
What do Rated 15's include?

Can There Be Strong Violence?
Yes, at 15 violence may be strong. It should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury, however, and the strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Easily accessible weapons may not be glamorised.
What About Horror Works?
Many horror films are rated 15. At 15 there can be strong threat and menace (as long as it is not sexualised), although the strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable.
What About Dangerous Behaviour or Things Teens Might Copy?
We considered the risk of potential harm to impressionable teenagers. For example, dangerous behaviour such as hanging, suicide and self-harming should not dwell on detail which could be copied.
Why Have We Chosen To Rate Our Film 15
we have chosen to rate our horror film 15 because it opens the range to a larger audience. With a larger range of audience this mean our film will make more money. If we rated our film 18, this would decrease our range in audience and will make less money.
BBFC stands for the 'British Board of Film Classification'. The reason we have chosen to make a 15 rated film is because it appeals to the younger generation and maximizes our Box Office success.
In the past few years allot of teenagers have been watching horror movies as they like the gore, violence and death. As the BBFC (British Board Film Classification) have made the age range as a 15 or 12A this means teenagers are aloud to get into the cinema and watch the movie.
